Angela
Hello everyone, my name is Angie. I live up in Duluth. I
have ALWAYS been a dog lover. When I was growing up
we had a schnauzer/terrier mix, "Chico". He passed when I
was 12 yrs old. I always wanted another dog, but my
parents didn't. So as soon as I was out on my own and living
in an apartment that would allow me to have a dog, I got
one. I got Cyrus my boxer in Sept. of 2001. I immediately fell
in love! We have a bond that I just can't explain. Three
months after getting Cyrus we moved into a house. (I
actually bought the house from my Grandma when she had
to move to assisted living. So I am now living in the house
my Dad grew up in!) Both my husband and I wanted
another dog, so in March of 2002 we got Zeus (an English
Mastiff). My husband and I have since divorced, so now it is
just me and "my boys" as I like to call them. I love both my
boys more than anything, but there is just something special
about the boxer breed. I can't imagine my life without at
least one boxer in it at all times.
Cyrus and I have done both obedience and agility
classes. What fun!!! Unfortunately we had to quit
when he started to develop arthritis in his knees and
all the running/jumping would make him limp.
Everyone in the classes was so nice. I think "dog
people" are great!  I have been a nurse for 11 years.
Every once and awhile I bring the dogs down to the
nursing home that I work at for a visit. It is so much
fun to see the joy they bring to the residents!
Everyone wants to pet them and play with them. I am
sure the dogs enjoy it just as much as the people.

I saw the website for MnBoxerRescue one day when I
was surfing the web for anything boxer related. I
knew I wanted to do anything I could to help the
breed I had come to love so much. I have been a
volunteer since early 2008.  I have only had one foster
so far, but it was a wonderful experience. It was so
great to see her find her forever home.  I can't wait
until the next time. I am sure that at some point down
the road I will be one of the "foster flunkies" that ends
up adopting their foster dog. Everyone involved in
the rescue is friendly, helpful, caring, (I could go on
and on), and dedicated to the best breed of dog there
is! I look forward to working with them for a long
time to come.
