Thomas

MNBR wishes Thomas the
best in his new forever home!
Two weeks ago today, Animal Control for the area I live in, dropped
off an extremely skinny, brindle, young male boxer. The woman had
contacted Jodi the evening before and Jodi inturn had contacted
us...could we take a young boxer whose family apparently no longer
wanted him. The young boxer had been in 'jail' for the 10-day
holding period...for the second time in his young life, but this time
no one had come to claim him.

The next morning, my husband and I waited nervously for this young
criminal's arrival...what had he done that his family would not want
him...was he aggressive, not house trained, anti-social??? The car
came up our driveway...we could see a very handsome boxer sitting in
the front seat next to the 'dog catcher'...two collars around his
neck each attached to a leash which were then tied to the sideview
mirror on the passenger side...Why TWO collars/leashes...I was
thinking, what are we getting in for???

The young boxer stepped from the car...all his ribs, his spine and
hip bones jutted from his body...but he had a huge smile on his face
and a tongue that was licking our faces...'THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME'
he was saying. He met our two boxer boys, Tony and Jake...no
problems...he just wanted to play and kiss them.

We quickly named him 'Thomas'...this guy was one of the sweetest most
loving young boxers I have met...a beautiful face and
expression...just a love! We had him checked by Dr. Scanlon at White
Bear Animal Hospital that Tuesday. He was positive for Lyme and
Anaplasmosis for which he received antibiotics. He came down with a
terrible case of kennel cough which resolved within a few days and he
started putting on some weight. Dr. Scanlon determined he was
between 10 and 14 months.

Thomas was a perfect gentleman in the house...no accidents, no
chewing...and was fine with being crated for an hour or two at a
time. Loved sleeping with us and stretching out underfoot whenever
possible.

This morning, a great family from Lakeville, Kobe and Dan Zimmerman
and their very cute daughter Teagan, came to make him a member of
their family...he is joining them and their 8-yr. old male boxer,
Charlie. I am sure that Thomas will have a terrific life with this
family.

THANK YOU MINNESOTA BOXER RESCUE for making another HAPPY ENDING to a
very deserving boxer...without this group, this guy may not have had
such a bright outlook for the remainder of his life!
