Hi, my name is Squirt!

I really don't know what it is like to be a dog. You see, right now I live at a puppy mill. I have lived here my whole life! It was really nice that I got to go outside to get my pictures taken, because I haven't even been outside much in my life. My normal day consists of hanging out in a 4x6 cinder block cell that I share with another boxer girl. We mostly only get out when it's time to have more babies. I've had a lot of babies in my life. Now my "owner" said that since I'm 5, I'm no longer of any use to him, so he is letting me go in to rescue.

I'm going to be arriving soon, but the nice people at MNBR wanted to get my picture posted, so they can have a foster home all ready for me when I arrive. I'm really looking forward to a new lifestyle. I must warn you, that I'll probably be quite shy at first. After all, the only person I've ever met is the man that runs the puppy mill where I live. I'm used to living with other dogs, and I would be scared to go to a home without another dog to help me. The resident dog will show me the ropes, and teach me how to be part of a family. When I arrive, I won't be potty trained, because I've lived my whole life in that cell. I had to eat, sleep and potty there.

Things that other dogs take for granted will be new to me. I don't know what stairs are, or a leash, or even treats! But, I've heard that I should learn more about these "treat" things. It is best for me to have a fenced yard, or to make sure I'm securely on a leash or tie out. I could get spooked by a strange noise, and take off because I'm scared and don't know my name.

II just heard I have a foster home lined up to help me when I arrive. How exciting! I hope to meet you soon!
