Before......

Hi!! My name is Maya. I am a six year old female and
I was rescued from a very bad situation. Some human
thought that I was a puppy machine and bred me to
have puppies for him. Needless to say I feel very
glad to be out of there!! My foster mom is very
impressed with how well I've done even over just two
days! Being indoors so much is kind of a weird thing
and I am a little anxious. It will just take me a while
to feel fully comfortable. I am getting used to
lounging on the couch with my foster sister. I don't
really get why she keeps running back and forth to
pick up the things my foster mom throws, but it
makes my butt wiggle to watch her work so hard. I
got to go on this thing called a "walk" yesterday and I
did awesome if I do say so myself - although I don't
think I ever walked so much in my life and I got
pooped pretty quickly. My foster mom kept saying,
"come on fat girl, you can do it". Whatever THAT
means!! There are some other furry creatures here
called "cats" and they move so fast I just want to catch
them. I don't know what I would do with them once I
caught them so my foster mom is keeping us
separated for now. That's fine! I dont care for them
anyway. PeeeeeeYou!!
After...
So here's the deal. The horrible place I was rescued from did not do a
very good job of taking care of me. I have two ear infections and need
some pretty intense dental work. I got a bath and went to the vet all in
a week, two new experiences for me!! The vet thought I was
suspiciously chubby (because my cage-mate Uno was so skinny she
thought I should be too) and have some other funny skin conditions,
they ran a thyroid test on me. Wow, that would explain why I've been
feeling so crummy lately! I find out this week the results of that test
and in a few weeks I go back to get all the yukky teeth taken care of.
My breath will be MUCH better then and it wont be so hard for me to
eat.
My name was Sid when I was rescued but my foster
mom thought Maya highlighted my beauty a little
more. She can't believe how quickly I've learned it
and am even responding to it when she calls (did
the think I was stupid?! Sheesh!!) Other than my
aversion to the feline species, she thinks I will make
an amazing pet. I will need a family with patience
because unlike my canine brothers and sisters in the
world, I have not had a consistently loving owner
and I have no clue what those words like "sit",
"stay", or "come" mean but I bet I'd like to learn! My
foster mom was laying with me last night and all of
a sudden she said, "I think you were someone's pet
once". If that's true it was so long ago I dont
remember but this sleeping on the couch thing does
come pretty naturally.
If you have any questions about me you can
email my foster mom, Erin , and she will be
able to give you all the info on me. (Erin
here: this is true! I would love to talk Maya
up! She is such a sweetie and cant wait to get
into her forever home with someone who will
make up for all the love she hasn't received!!)
Okay, my foster mom just stole my
computer...ANYWAY. Hope to meet you
soon!!
Maya
Update: I got my test results back and horray! I dont have
anything wrong with my thyroid. That means I'm just
plain chubby so my mom is making sure to take me on
nice long walks every day! I am getting better at keeping
up and I dont pull at ALL!! In the next few weeks I will go
back to get my dental work done...but dont let that stop
you from adopting me! I am very excited to get into my
forever home where I can really relax without those pesky
cats! They make me nervous!!
