Jen
Jen has been in our home since April 4. She came to us with a deep seated fear of humans. Apparently her life in two puppy mills really kept her from learning that people can be good. .
Jen's progress has remained slow...but she is progressing. She no longer has accidents in the house...she has free run of the house with 3 other boxers...no chewing either. She is able to go in and out of doors much calmer now. She still becomes sullen when walked on a leash. She is much more accepting of her foster family but is still very shy when meeting new people.
Jen has never acted aggressive in anyway...not towards our 3 male boxers or any person...not even at the vet clinic when shots were given and her blood was drawn for her heart worm check. The vet commented that he felt she was "stable" as did several professional dog trainers...she does not "freak out" when scared but withdraws.
Right now, Jen is not a boxer who will meet you at the door with wiggles and kisses, she will stand back and peek around the corner to see who has come in. She will then wait for you to sit down so she can approach to see if you have brought her a good treat which she will take daintily from your fingers...and then retreat to her safe area.
Jen's new home will have to be a very special one. In order for her to continue to learn to trust people, she will need:
1) a calm family where someone is home most of the time
2) a family experienced with dogs and their training
3) a family that contains another dog or two to help her learn the ropes of the household 4) a fenced yard
5) a family without young children. (because of the strong possibility of a door being left open at the wrong time.)
6) an understanding family should she have days of backsliding in her progress
The needs listed above are to help Jen heal. She still requires a great deal of time and patience to allow her to build up her trust in people and to become a family member. What we have seen during the time that Jen has been with us is that change is difficult for her...that time and patience is needed in great amounts for her to become comfortable in new surroundings.

Jen's adoption fee is $400.00
