Hello! My name is Hemi! I am a lover who needs a loving, calm, patient family who can work with me. I have separation anxiety and cannot be left alone for long periods of time. As of yet, my foster family is teaching me that I am safe in a kennel. At first I whine, but a simple uh-uh quiets me down pretty quick. Actually, uh-uh is a good correction for me whenever I am doing something I guess I shouldn’t be doing.

In my last home I lived with another dog most of my life, and then he had to go to heaven. This increased my separation anxiety. In my foster home I live with another Boxer male. We get along 99.9% of the time, but I need him to know that I am top dog in the house – I am not good at warning him if I want my toy back. I would prefer to go to a home with another dog as this is calming for me and I do love being around another dog. But absolutely NO cats. I have never been around cats before and my foster family has 3 who are now living in the basement. I am really curious about them and I don’t know what I would do if I could get to them.

I am a big strong boy who has lots of energy. When I go to the dog park I love to run and run and run. I would really like to go to a home where I will have regular exercise. I love the dog park. I need to learn better manners on a leash but so far, I can do little walks. Maybe someday I would be a good running partner. I am very smart and know my commands. Sit, wait, drop, leave it…. and more. Oh, I will even let you walk in and out the door before me. Sometimes I can be stubborn, but if you are calm and persistent I will follow through.

Oh – I also grew up in house with a baby. I moved out when she was 2. I think I would do better with larger children because I am strong and big and when I play I could accidentally knock down younger children… but I do my best to be sooo gentle with children.
