Digby’s story is a sad one! He was abandoned by his family and left without food, water, or shelter. Digby has arrived and is an absolute pleasure to have in my home so I wonder if there was some tragedy that left him behind all by himself, we just don’t know. I brought him to the vet and had him checked over thoroughly. He came to the rescue in pretty rough shape, poor guy. Digby is heartworm positive and will be getting his final treatment on August 5th and six weeks after this treatment he will then be able to play, romp, and run with his fur brothers. He had ticks in his ear with a double ear infection (fungal & bacterial) in both ears. He had a broken toe nail, tick and fly bites all over him and a bad infection in his mouth. The vet said his eyes are little droopy, but it is not causing any issues and doesn’t see it being an issue in future and is very expensive procedure to fix. He has had his ear cleaned and a nice warm bath and some antibiotics and is now doing much better.
Digby is startled by sudden movements, but loves to give kisses and hugs and will relax with you on the couch. If it wasn’t for those darn worms Digby would be playing boxer in my backyard with is new friend/ fur brother, Boomer. He will initiate boxer play but I have to stop it before he gets to excited or it could cause problems with heartworm recovery. He is just getting the hang the stairs. Digby will need obedience classes because right now he does not know any commands. However Digby does know how to walk well on a leash and is gentle around children of all ages. Digby is going to be a large boxer the vet thinks around 75- 80lbs. He is 10lbs under weight right now! Did you see size of his paws? Digby is a sweet, sweet boy that is going to make some family very lucky.
