Boogie is very timid about being blind. He must have had some vision out of his second eye to be removed, as he is very afraid to move around, and has not learned to use his ears for locating my voice. Still, we struggle together. He had to go out during the middle of the night, and I let him out with the garage door half open and the screen door into the house open, so he could find his way back inside. It took quite awhile, but he did make it all by himself back to the queen size bed that I share with 320+ pounds of Boxer besides him.
The other dogs recognize him as alpha. It seems so strange to have a blind alpha dog. Rocket is so not alpha. Not one dog in the world has ever picked on him, except Boogie, for a brief moment. Boogie is learning to settle in with his new pack members.
